Alex, a tourist from Canada, is fishing in an area off the Florida coast. Many "NO SWIMMING" signs are posted near the shore.
A huge wave comes up suddenly and Alex's boat capsizes. Alex can swim, but he is afraid of alligators and hangs on tight to the overturned boat.
He drifts towards the shore and finally sees someone on the beach. In his loudest voice, Alex cries out, "Are there any alligators around here?"
"No," answers the man on the beach. "They haven't been around for a few years."
Feeling safe, Alex lets go of the boat and starts swimming to shore. When he is about half way there, he shouts to the man, "How did you get rid of the alligators?"
"We didn't do anything," replies the man. "The sharks got them!"
