Who Is Penny?

Jack comes home from school and sees a woman in the living room.

"Hi Jack," she says. "I'm Ella, your dad's friend."

"Where is my dad and where is Penny?" asks Jack.

"Your dad is in the backyard," says Ella. "Who is Penny? Does she come here often?"

"Penny is here all the time. My dad and Penny talk every morning," says Jack.

"Tell me more about Penny."

"I like Penny, but she talks a lot," says Jack. "My dad loves her."

"He loves her? Your father can't have two girlfriends!"

Ella walks out of the house just as Jack's father comes back into the room. "Where is Ella?" he asks.

"She doesn't like Penny," says Jack. "She left."

"Wait, Ella!" shouts Jack's father as he runs out the door. "Penny is our parrot!"
