Abe no Seimei was a very wise man who lived long ago in Japan. Some call him the "Merlin of Japan". When he was a boy, he loved to look at the sky. He watched how the moon changed and how birds flew before it rained. He liked learning about nature.
As he grew up, Abe no Seimei became a great onmyoji, a person who studies nature's balance. He believed that everything in the world should work together.
One day, the Emperor asked for Seimei's help. Strange winds were blowing through the city of Kyoto. Doors rattled, and people felt scared.
Seimei closed his eyes and listened to the wind. He knew a restless spirit was causing trouble. He spoke calm words and drew special signs on paper. He asked his helper spirits, called shikigami, to guide the bad spirit away.
The Emperor thanked Seimei, but Seimei just smiled. He did not care about showing off his magic. He was happy to help others and keep balance in the world.
Even today, people in Japan honor Abe no Seimei. The Seimei Shrine in Kyoto is a famous place built in his memory.Source: worksheetsplus.com/Reading/wizSeimei.html Abe no Seimei and the Helpful Spirits
