Merlin was a famous wizard who lived long ago in Britain. He is often shown wearing long robes and carrying a wooden staff. Many thought his magic was his greatest power, but his wisdom was even stronger.
People came from far away to ask Merlin for help. One of them was a boy named Arthur. Merlin helped Arthur learn to listen to others and make good choices.
One day, with help from Merlin's magic, Arthur pulled a sword from a stone. No one else in the kingdom could move it. This showed that Arthur was meant to be the true king.
With Merlin's help, Arthur grew into a good and wise king. "A true leader," Merlin said, "uses kindness before power."
When Merlin used magic, he used it to protect the kingdom or help someone in need. He knew magic could cause problems if it was used the wrong way. Because of this, Merlin became known as the wisest wizard of all.
