In a village near a dark forest, people whispered about a strange woman called the Night Dancer.
No one knew where she came from. She appeared only when the moon was bright. She wore a long white dress and danced in the forest. Her feet moved so fast that they barely touched the ground. People who walked too close sometimes heard a soft sound: Tap... tap... tap...
The elders warned, "Do not follow her. She is not human and is possessed by an evil spirit."
One night, a young boy wandered too close the forest. He heard the tapping and saw a shadow moving in the moonlight. His heart pounded as he tried to turn back, but his feet kept moving him closer.
Suddenly, a cold wind blew through the trees. The dancer vanished into the shadows.
The boy ran home without looking back and told the elders what he had seen. From that night on, no one walked near the forest after dark.
The elders said the Night Dancer was a warning to respect the forest, that it tests those who wander too far. Even today, when the moon shines bright, people sometimes hear the soft tapping far off in the forest and remember to stay close to home.
