Bella loved the school library - the smell of books, the tall shelves, and the quiet. But she didn’t love The Corner, where the lights were dim and the very old books were kept.
One rainy afternoon, Bella had the library to herself. While looking for a book, she noticed something strange. A shadow was moving in The Corner.
Bella stepped closer. The shadow stretched and pointed to a high shelf. A dusty blue book stuck out crookedly.
"Do you want me to get that?" Bella asked. The shadow nodded.
Bella climbed the step stool, took the book, and opened it. A soft silver glow filled the pages. Inside was a message:
I AM THE LOST BOOK OF STORIES NEVER FINISHED. PLEASE HELP ME FIND MY ENDINGS.
The book flipped to a half-written story about a girl in a spooky library.
"That’s me," Bella whispered.
The shadow pointed at the empty space where the next line should go. Bella sat in The Corner and wrote. As she finished the last sentence, the shadow faded away. The book shut itself and made its way back to the shelf.
Everything looked normal again, but Bella knew better. Every time she visited the library, she checked The Corner. Sometimes the shadow returned. And when it did, it always brought another unfinished story.
