Sight Word Booklets to Read, Write, Color, Cut and Paste

"At the Farm" Sight Word Booklet to Make

  1. Make copies of the next 2 pages for each child or pair of children.
  2. Hand out the page with the words to trace. Have students fold it in half so that the left and right sides of the page meet, and the words are on the outside. Then fold it in half again so that the top and bottom meet and the title page with "At the Farm" on it is on the outside, forming a booklet.
  3. Have the children trace and color the letters.
  4. Read the booklet aloud with your students.
  5. Hand out the page with pictures for the children to color.
  6. Have the children re-read each sentence in their booklets, choose a picture that matches the sentence, cut it out, and paste it on the page.

Make Your Own Booklet

  1. Hand out the last page with the words to trace and have the students fold it as they did before to make a booklet, and then trace the letters.
  2. Point out that the last two sentences are each missing a word.
  3. Have the children look at the pictures they have colored and suggest what the missing words could be. Write out a list of the possible words (barn, farm, chicken, lamb, sheep, goat, horse, etc.)
  4. Then have the children make their own illustrated booklets by filling in the missing words of their choice and cutting out and pasting in the corresponding pictures or drawing their own pictures. They can unfold the booklet and write their names on the blank side of the paper.
